The assignment was simple enough: Make an inexpensive TV campaign for Ashley Furniture Homestore. Alright, so even though we had to put the idea of a beach shoot in Cozumel on hold, we still came up with some pretty cool ideas. One idea, instantly became our favorite when resourceful art director, Monica Giardina, made a test video of it in her own home one morning. Thankfully, the client liked it as much as we did.
“You want us to get people to come to St. Louis? Okay … Wait, you want us to get people to visit St. Louis in the winter?” No problem. We just build on the success of our spring/summer campaign for the St. Louis CVC with two new magical spots (before and after the holiday versions) that make people take notice. Thankfully, warm weather isn’t the only reason people travel.
The assignment was to reach young men with an inexpensive fifteen-second TV spot for the Double Cheeseburger Extra Value Meal. We came up with a simple approach that let us create seven spots instead of just one. And we wound up tailoring three of them for specific media buys—Blues hockey, March Madness and American Idol. Sure is nice having a creative media department.
